ASA CARPINTERO is a country house lodge available for rent on a whole-house basis and situated in Ainsa, a village in the Sobrarbe region in the Aragonese Pyrenees. It was built in 1800, opened to the public in 1992 and renovated in 2000. The house has a traditional architectural style and is available for rent all year round. It is in a good state of repair. The house is located in a quiet, rural setting with all services: doctors, banks, churches, shops, bars, restaurants, adventure sports centres, petrol stations, chemist's, etc. (less than five minutes away by car).
The house can accommodate 5 people in 2 double rooms, with a total of 5 beds and one extra folding bed. Cots are available on request.
It is very near to the Ordesa and Monte Perdido Nature Reserve, the Guara Mountains and Canyons Nature Reserve, the Posets Maladeta Natural Park and the French Pyrenees National Park. It is also very close to the ski resorts of Cerler (Huesca) and Piau-Engaly (France). The village of Aínsa is situated between France, the Ordesa Nature Reserve, the Guara Mountains and the Benasque Valley. It is 580 m above sea level and has 1,500 inhabitants, and is also the capital of the Sobrarbe region. Take the A-138 via Barbastro for direct access to Aínsa. · Artistic Heritage: The old quarter of the Village of Aínsa, declared a Historic-Artistic Site, contains a number of beautiful houses overlooked by the slim tower of the Collegiate Church and the enormous castle enclosure, which is almost as large as the rest of the village. LOCAL FESTIVITIES. - La Morisma. This festivity commemorates the victory of the Christians over the Saracens and the miraculous appearance of the cross. It is held every two years, almost always in September, with theatre plays telling the story of the event. The village streets and windows are decorated with medieval motifs. - San Sebastián Festivity. Bonfires and "Fiesta de los Casados" (ritual around a fire). Held on 20 January. - Fiesta Mayor (Main Festivity). 14 September. - Ferieta. Also called the "small fair", held on 2 February. - Sobrarbe Expofair. In September. - Annual descent of the Nabatas River. The River Nabatas via the River Cinca was the main means used to transport timber from this area to the deforested plains. This ancient activity is commemorated every year in the descent, which begins at Laspuña, passes through Escalona and ends in Aínsa. - Mushroom picking. You can also enjoy mushroom picking because there are many varieties of mushroom in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Mushroom picking seminars are held every October in Ainsa.
